A model of intergenerational healing and well-being among African Americans. What is trauma and how does it affect African Americans?
We will explore implications for personal and collective healing among people of the Black diaspora, using this framework for informing health care interventions.
Following this activity, a participant should be able to:
1. Define historical trauma.
2. Understand the limits of trauma as a phenomenon when missing the context of intergenerational harms.
3. Identify ways to promote the reclamation of intergenerational healing and well-being among African Americans and people of the Black diaspora.
